Title: Community Engagement Organizer
Reports to: Organizing Director

The Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization building civic power with Muslim communities across Georgia. Through year-round voter engagement, leadership development, advocacy, and community education, GAMVP equips Muslim Georgians to participate fully, lead boldly, and shape the policies and decisions that affect their lives and communities.
GAMVP is seeking a relationship-driven, highly organized Community Engagement Organizer to lead membership and volunteer engagement through Ummah Forward, GAMVP’s base-building program. This role will expand GAMVP’s reach across the diversity of Georgia’s Muslim communities, deepen relationships with mosques, Islamic centers, community organizations, coalition partners, and emerging community leaders, and build a clear volunteer pipeline that connects community members to meaningful civic action.
Day to day, this person will host community events and member gatherings, conduct 1:1 outreach, recruit and coordinate volunteers, track engagement data, and work closely with the Organizing Director and other program staff to support priority campaigns, civic education, voter registration, GOTV, policy and advocacy, and leadership development efforts. The ideal candidate enjoys meeting people, follows through reliably, can organize moving pieces without losing the human center of the work, and believes in building Muslim civic power in Georgia.
Core Responsibilities
Manage the daily operations of GAMVP’s membership, base-building, and volunteer engagement work through Ummah Forward, ensuring tasks, events, and outreach align with organizational goals.
Collaborate with the Organizing Director to set program goals, track progress, and adjust strategy as needed.
Track and manage membership, volunteer, and outreach data, producing regular internal updates and external reporting materials on program metrics, insights, and demographic engagement.
Represent GAMVP in program-related groups, meetings, community events, and partner spaces.
Engage in regular training and stay up to date on voter engagement tools, databases, and software, including VAN, Action Network, and Empower.
Support priority organization-wide efforts, events, and programs, and complete other duties as assigned.
Membership and Base-Building: Ummah Forward
The Community Engagement Organizer will expand GAMVP’s reach into the full diversity of Georgia’s Muslim communities and deepen engagement with members and leaders who emerge from those communities.
Develop and manage GAMVP’s membership engagement program, Ummah Forward, including member meetings, community events, base engagement tracking, and leadership development opportunities.
Develop and execute outreach strategies to mobilize community members for priority GAMVP campaigns, programs, and community events, with particular attention to Black Muslim, immigrant, multilingual, and other historically underrepresented Muslim communities.
Build and maintain strategic relationships through 1:1s and other outreach with mosques, Islamic centers, community organizations, coalition partners, businesses, community leaders, and underrepresented groups.
Update and standardize membership and base-building program materials for consistent program delivery.
Volunteer Engagement and Mobilization
Within the same Ummah Forward and base-building lens, this role will bring community members into active volunteer roles and connect them to the GAMVP programs where they can make the greatest impact.
Plan and lead volunteer events and programs, including phone banks, canvassing opportunities, volunteer trainings, and other entry points that connect community members to GAMVP’s work.
Recruit, onboard, match, and coordinate volunteers across GAMVP’s programs, including voter registration, GOTV, civic education, leadership development, and policy and advocacy efforts.
Update and standardize volunteer program materials for consistent program delivery.
Required Qualifications
At least two years of community organizing, mobilization, campaign, volunteer engagement, or related community-based work experience.
Experience building trust with diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, and multilingual communities.
Experience recruiting, coordinating, supporting, or managing volunteers.
Strong commitment to social justice, immigrant rights, and issues affecting Muslim communities.
Strong public speaking and writing skills, with the ability to motivate people and communicate clearly across audiences.
Ability to produce consistent, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Dependable, detail-oriented, and well organized, with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing political dynamics.
Basic knowledge of coalition building and relationship management with diverse stakeholders.
Experience with, or willingness to learn, voter engagement tools and databases such as VAN and Action Network.
Flexibility and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Georgia Muslim communities, particularly Black Muslim, immigrant, multilingual, BAMEMSA, AANHPI, and other historically underrepresented communities.
Ability to listen for and synthesize community needs, then respond in ways that are transparent, collaborative, accessible, and culturally responsive.
Additional language skills, especially Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Somali, Farsi, Hindi, or other languages spoken in Georgia’s Muslim communities.
Position Type and Salary
The Community Engagement Organizer is a full-time, exempt, permanent position based in Atlanta, GA. This is a hybrid role with regular in-person community engagement, some evening and weekend responsibilities, and occasional travel within Georgia. The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $56,000. In addition to the base salary, this position includes a stipend toward private health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, two weeks of office closure at the end of the year, paid sick leave, professional development opportunities, and reimbursement for approved work-related travel expenses.

Position Overview
GAMVP is currently seeking personable and energetic individuals with a strong passion to participate in the democratic process through non-partisan voter registration and voter turnout work with a focus on engaging Muslim communities. Field Organizers are an integral part of the work we do, as our organization is built on direct voter contact. The ideal candidate is well-organized, a self starter, and must be comfortable with working in diverse communities. Prior experience in canvassing and voter registration is preferred but not required; training and mentorship will be provided on the job.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support GAMVP’s voter engagement program by accurately registering voters via paper registration forms or online registration platforms in primarily Muslim-centered spaces in counties across Georgia
Engage voters around Get Out the Vote and voter education efforts
Build and strengthen existing partnerships within communities
Cultivate new relationships within communities for future voter engagement efforts
Provide support at organizational and community events held by GAMVP
Complete in-person shifts in a timely, orderly fashion.
Maintain an accurate and reliable data trail
Communicate all relevant information and provide timely responses to supervisors
Learn and navigate organizing tools and voter databases (VAN, GetThru, Thrutext, etc.)
Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills, Abilities, and Experiences:
Must be at least 18 years of age, eligible to work in the United States, and have valid identification
Outstanding time management skills with an ability to prioritize activities and responsibilities effectively under pressure and changing political dynamics
Experience working with Muslim communities and is knowledgeable about popular community spaces in Georgia
Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage details, work independently, and follow through with minimal direct supervision
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, sometimes in the direct sun
Licensed driver with insurance and own transportation, clean driving record, and willingness to travel throughout Georgia. Mileage reimbursement is available
Ability to learn and use various tech and organizing tools
Additional language skills are preferred, but not required

Position Type and Salary:
Field Organizer is a temporary part-time position based in Atlanta, GA with a salary of $20/hour. Reimbursement/stipend will be provided for gas costs.
