The Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) is a non-partisan, non-profit (501c3) organization created to increase political participation among Muslim Americans and educate our communities about the importance of voting. The mission of GAMVP is to educate Muslims in Georgia to register to vote, show up to the polls, and increase voter turnout in elections through voter education, registration drives, and grassroots organizing. We believe that in order to cultivate lifelong voters, we truly need to engage voters in every local, state, and national election. We envision an active, engaged American Muslim voting bloc, capable of upholding the equitable rights of American Muslims.

The Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) is a non-partisan, nonprofit (501c3) organization working to increase civic participation among American Muslims across Georgia. Our mission is to build power through nonpartisan voter registration, voter engagement, civic education, and policy advocacy. We envision a future where Muslim communities are active participants in democracy and are seen as a powerful, engaged voting bloc capable of shaping equitable policies.
Position Summary
GAMVP is seeking a hard-working and community-driven individual to serve as the Augusta Community Organizer. This role is focused on supporting nonpartisan civic engagement efforts—including voter outreach, census education, redistricting, and community empowerment—in the greater Augusta/Richmond area. The ideal candidate is passionate about building relationships, well-organized, and eager to help make the civic process more accessible to Muslim communities. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct nonpartisan voter registration using paper and digital tools at Muslim-centered sites in the Augusta/Richmond area.
Lead Get Out the Vote (GOTV) outreach and provide timely, accurate voter information and resources.
Participate in door-to-door canvassing and digital outreach to engage voters.
Accurately complete data entry, shift reports, and maintain voter engagement records.
Build and maintain relationships with local partners, community leaders, and faith-based organizations.
Organize civic education events on elections, redistricting, voter purges, and relevant federal or local legislation.
Lead a community mapping session for redistricting in collaboration with partners such as SPLC and ProGeorgia.
Support additional community engagement activities as needed, such as: Local advocacy trainings, Issue-based voter education, Community strategy sessions for the 2030 Census.
Attend Census training and integrate data-related advocacy into outreach.
Collaborate with the Organizing Director to set goals and evaluate program impact.
Track metrics and provide regular updates and reports.
Contribute to digital and print content that supports voter education.
Represent GAMVP at local events, coalition meetings, and community gatherings.
Support organizational events and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in Georgia.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance; willingness to travel as needed.
Prior experience in organizing, outreach, or campaign work—especially within Muslim, BIPOC, immigrant, or AANHPI communities—is highly preferred.
Ability to build inclusive, diverse, and culturally-responsive community relationships.
Strong organizational and time management skills; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
Able to work independently while collaborating with a team.
Confident public speaking, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
Commitment to GAMVP’s mission and values, including voting rights and social justice.
Willing to work flexible hours (some evenings and weekends required).
Able to conduct in-person fieldwork, including outdoor canvassing.
Language skills beyond English (e.g., Arabic, Urdu, Bengali) are a plus.
Position Details
This is a part-time, temporary position based in Augusta, GA, with an expected schedule of approximately 20–25 hours per week. The position will run from August 2025 through August 2027, with the possibility of extension depending on organizational needs. This is a hybrid role, requiring both remote and in-person work. Compensation is $23 per hour.
