GEORGIA MUSLIM VOTER PROJECT’S STATEMENT FOR PALESTINE

May 14, 2021 — Georgia Muslim Voter Project (GAMVP) stands with our sisters, brothers, and kin in Palestine and condemns the state-sanctioned violence perpetrated against Palestinians by the state of Israel. We stand with all those fighting oppression and occupation and call on our leaders to do the same.

As our staff, board members, and supporters celebrated Eid with their loved ones, we were all too aware of our fellow Muslims suffering on this holy day. Every person deserves dignity, safety, and shelter. No child, no family should suffer for attempting to remain in their home or worship in a holy site.

We call on our leadership—President Biden, Vice President Harris, Sen. Ossoff, Sen. Warnock, and our fourteen members of Congress—to stand with us to decry this violence by Israel and its settlers. We call on you to end support for Israel until they cease their ongoing human rights violations against the Palestinian people. We demand the end of our tax dollars going to support ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Israel.

We work daily to ensure all Muslims in Georgia have the knowledge and access they need to have their voice heard. Now, it is time for you to hear us, to stand with us, and to protect the children and families in Palestine facing apartheid, mass displacement and murder.

Find ways to support Palestine here. Share the ignored stories of Palestinians on the ground through hashtags such as #AlAqsaUnderAttack and #SaveSheikhJarrah. Call out any media outlet casting Palestinians as the sole aggressors. Call our leaders and ask for their support to end Israeli aggression and US Military aide to Israel.
