GA Public Service Commission.

    • Supports Solar energy as an advantage to rural counties and developers. 

    • Promotes diversity in fuels available to Georgia in order to protect against price hikes.  

    • Against Legislative mandates and state subsidies concerning energy companies. Believes the commission should develop initiatives directly with companies like GA power. 

    • Boasts spearheading community solar programs at GA Power.   

    • Supports Nuclear energy via the Plant Vogtle Project in order to fulfill the states increasing power obligations. Mentions the plant as important to the US national interest against Russia and China.

    • Led the implementation of Net metering* and the Utility Scale Solar  initiative for business on the PSC. 

    • Supports incentives for overnight power usage for customers and companies  when there is a surplus to reduce rates.

    *Net metering is the practice of allowing customers with solar panels to get a discount on their energy bills. The customers earn this discount by sending excess power back to the main grid.

    • Supports SMR* initiatives to repurpose and phase out coal plants while keeping the jobs and the locally produced power within the communities where they currently exist. 

    • Endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Energy Workers. 

    • Endorsed by the North America's Building Trades Union 

    • Cofounder of the Unholy Tour Project* whose mission is to bring attention to sex trafficking in Atlanta by facilitating tours for advocates against trafficking and legislators.

    *SMR stands for small modular reactors. These reactors are usually built and staffed using existing infrastructure in coal plants, and coal plant personnel are retrained to operate the new reactors.

    *Tour goers have stated that the tour felt like it was racially profiling Black people

    • Emphasizes keeping Georgia attractive to businesses with low energy rates. 

    • Supports retraining for Georgians who currently work in the coal industry to become recertified through union training like those offered by energy worker trade unions.

    • Raised concerns  about the disposal of nuclear waste from Plant Vogtle. 

    • Believes Georgia needs to prepare for a post-coal environment. 

    • Facilitated Smart Corridor Tour in Atlanta that highlighted sustainable development projects from the Varsity to Ponce City market.  

    • No mention of Climate change on Echols’ campaign site.
